College Senior Photos at The University of Oklahoma | Norman Senior Photographer

August 27, 2025

Graduating from college is such a big deal! You’ve worked hard, stayed up late studying, made so many memories with friends, and grown so much since you first walked onto campus as a freshman. College senior photos are more than just pretty pictures. They tell your story. They celebrate the late nights, the victories, the friendships, and the growth that got you here.

At the University of Oklahoma, there are so many beautiful spots to take photos that highlight your time as a Sooner. From the historic buildings to the lush greenery, every corner of campus holds memories. In this blog, I’ll share some of my favorite OU photo locations, why I encourage my seniors to book morning sessions, and how you can prepare for your session to make it unforgettable.

Why College Senior Photos Still Matter

Some students wonder, “Do I really need senior photos in college? Isn’t that just for high school?” The answer is yes, yes, yes! College changes you in big ways. You arrive as one person and leave as someone completely different. Senior photos give you a chance to look back on this season of your life and say, “Wow, I really did that!”

Your photos aren’t just for Instagram (though they’ll look amazing there too!). They’re for your parents who are so proud of you, for your grandparents who have cheered you on, and for your future self who will look back at this time with so much love. These photos will tell your story for years to come.

Best Times for Your OU Senior Session

Here’s my number one tip when it comes to senior photos on campus: book your session in the morning.

Morning light is soft, warm, and so flattering. It gives your skin a natural glow that’s hard to beat. Plus, mornings mean fewer people on campus. You won’t have to worry about crowds in the background or waiting for that one busy spot to clear out. It feels calm and peaceful, which makes the whole session less stressful and more fun.

I know waking up early might not sound exciting, but trust me, it’s worth it. The results are stunning, and you’ll thank yourself later when you see your photos.

Favorite OU Senior Photo Locations

The University of Oklahoma campus is full of beautiful spots for senior photos. Here are some of my favorites:

1. Bizzell Memorial Library Entrance

This is one of the most iconic locations on campus. The grand doors and historic details make a perfect backdrop. It’s classic, timeless, and screams “OU.” Whether you’re in your cap and gown or a dressy outfit, the library entrance adds so much elegance to your photos.

2. The Great Reading Room

Inside the library, the Great Reading Room is full of light, tall windows, and rows of books. If you’ve spent late nights studying here, this is the perfect spot to capture that part of your college story.

3. The Clock Tower

The Clock Tower is another favorite for OU grads. It’s a place where many students gather, and it makes for striking photos. Pair it with golden morning light, and you’ll have some amazing shots to share.

4. Behind the Library

This is one of OU’s hidden gems! The back of the library has gorgeous vines that cover the building and catch the sunlight in the most dreamy way. In the morning, this spot glows with soft light. It’s the perfect place to show off the beauty of campus in a unique way.

5. Campus Greenery & Gardens

OU’s campus has so much natural beauty. From blooming flowers in the spring to the rich colors of fall, the gardens and green spaces are always a favorite. These spots give your photos a softer, more natural feel.

6. The Stadium

For sports fans and proud Sooners, the stadium is a must. It shows your school spirit loud and clear and is the perfect spot to pop that champagne!

How to Prepare for Your College Senior Session

Your session will feel even more fun and relaxed if you take a little time to prepare. Here are my top tips:

1. Plan Your Outfits

Bring at least two outfits:

  • Formal Look: This could be your cap and gown, a classic dress, or a blazer and dress pants.
  • Casual Look: Think OU tee, jeans, or something that feels like “you.”

This mix gives you variety in your photos and makes sure you capture both sides of your personality.

2. Think About Props

Props are a fun way to personalize your photos! Some ideas:

  • Your cap and gown
  • Diploma (or diploma cover)
  • A stack of your favorite textbooks
  • OU gear (scarves, sweatshirts, or even a foam finger!)
  • Flower petals or confetti (biodegradable) for celebration shots

3. Rest and Hydrate

You’ll feel your best when you’re well-rested and hydrated. Go to bed early the night before, drink plenty of water, and eat a good breakfast so you’re energized for your session.

4. Hair and Makeup

Professional hair and makeup can make a big difference. It helps you feel confident and polished, and it photographs beautifully. My go to makeup artist for OU seniors is Jordan! I’d love to connect you all! But if you’re more comfortable doing your own makeup, keep it natural and true to you.

Why Morning Sessions Make All the Difference

I can’t stress this enough: morning sessions are the secret to amazing senior photos at OU. Here’s why:

  • Better light: Soft, golden light makes your skin glow and reduces harsh shadows.
  • Less traffic: Campus is quieter in the morning, so we can move quickly and get more variety in your photos.
  • Cooler temperatures: In spring and early summer, mornings are cooler and more comfortable than afternoons.

Morning sessions set the tone for the day. You start with something fun and full of energy. Many seniors tell me they actually loved waking up early for their session once they saw the photos.

Adding Your Personality

Your senior session should feel like you. That’s what makes the photos special. Think about the little details that tell your story:

  • Did you spend hours at the library studying for med school? Let’s take a shot with your books.
  • Were you a member of the band, cheer squad, or a sports team? Bring something that represents that part of your college journey.
  • Do you have a best friend or group of friends who made college amazing? Bring them along for a few photos!

The more personal your session is, the more meaningful your photos will be.

Graduating from the University of Oklahoma is such an exciting milestone. You’ve worked hard, and you deserve to celebrate this season of your life with photos that show off your journey. From the library entrance to the dreamy vines behind the library, OU is filled with beautiful backdrops that make your photos one-of-a-kind.
