Summer senior picture season is officially wrapping up, and what a summer it has been! I’ve spent the last few months photographing Class of 2027 seniors all over Oklahoma City. From colorful walls in the Paseo Arts District and Wheeler District to downtown OKC, the Myriad Gardens, and beautiful Oklahoma fields at sunset. There have been flowy dresses, lots of outfit changes, professional hair and makeup, plenty of Oklahoma heat (because…summer 😂), and so many gorgeous senior pictures.

But my favorite part has been getting to know each of these girls and creating a senior portrait experience that feels completely different for each one. As an Oklahoma Senior Photographer, I never want senior pictures to feel like showing up, smiling at the camera for an hour, and going home. This is such a unique season in your life, and your senior session should actually feel like an experience.

So as summer comes to an end, I thought it would be fun to let four of my recent Class of 2027 seniors tell you what it’s really like to have senior pictures taken with Brandi Price Photography and share some of their best advice for seniors who haven’t had their session yet. And if you’re still thinking about senior pictures for the Class of 2027, keep reading. Summer may be ending, but one of my favorite seasons for senior pictures is just getting started!

Senior Pictures Should Feel Like YOU

One thing I hear from seniors before their session is that they don’t want their pictures to look exactly like everyone else’s. I don’t want that either! Your senior pictures should reflect who you are during this season of your life. Your personality, style, the things you love, and even the activities that have been a huge part of getting you to senior year.

Landry is a perfect example. Landry is a homeschooled senior from Choctaw, Oklahoma. For her session, we planned five different outfits and photographed at the Wheeler District, downtown Oklahoma City, and the Myriad Gardens. But one of those five outfits wasn’t really an “outfit” at all. Landry brought her gymnastics leotard AND her competition medals! Gymnastics has been an important part of her story, so of course it deserved a place in her senior pictures.

That’s something I encourage every senior to think about when planning a session. You don’t have to bring a sport, hobby, instrument, pet, car, or collection of medals, but if something matters to you, let’s find a way to document it. Years from now, those images may be some of the ones that mean the most.

Landry also loved the variety we created throughout her session, especially in the Wheeler area. She said, “I loved how many locations we got to go to and how Ms. Brandi knew the best spots at each one!”

You Don’t Have to Know How to Pose for Senior Pictures

Let’s talk about one of the BIGGEST worries seniors have:

“But I don’t know how to pose!”

Good. You don’t need to. 😂 Seriously, that is my job.

Aubree, a Class of 2027 senior at Moore High School, had four outfits for her session. We photographed in the Paseo Arts District before heading to a beautiful field in Norman, where we finished with that dreamy Oklahoma sunset light.

Her favorite moment? Running through the field as the sun was going down. And her advice to future seniors is something I wish every girl could hear before her session:

“Don’t be nervous. Brandi knows what she’s doing, so you won’t ever feel awkward in your photos.”

Throughout your entire session, I’ll tell you what to do. Where to put your hands, where to look, how to stand, when to move. We’ll walk through all of it together. I’m not expecting you to show up knowing how to be a model. You’re a high school senior. You just need to show up as yourself.

Professional Hair and Makeup Makes the Day Even More Special

Every one of these girls started her senior portrait experience with professional hair and makeup by Jordan. Pro hair and makeup isn’t about making you look like a completely different person, but helping you feel polished, confident, and ready for your session while taking one more thing off your plate.

Paisley, a senior from Norman, said:

“My favorite part was feeling pretty and getting dressed up!”

Her session included four outfits and took us through downtown Oklahoma City and the Myriad Gardens. Her favorite combination was her long white dress at the downtown water feature.

Aubree said having her hair and makeup done helped boost her confidence, while Landry described something I especially love hearing:

“Ms. Jordan did a fantastic job! She made me feel so pretty, but I still felt like myself!”

That’s the goal. You should still recognize the girl looking back at you in your senior pictures. Just the confident, camera-ready version of her who gets to spend an entire day celebrating the fact that SHE MADE IT TO SENIOR YEAR.

Choose Senior Picture Outfits That Make You Feel Confident

Let’s talk outfits for a minute… Because you can find a million lists telling you what you “should” wear for senior pictures. But what actually matters: Do YOU feel good in it? Hayden, a senior at Moore High School, had four different outfits for her session in downtown Oklahoma City and the Myriad Gardens. Looking back on her experience, she had really practical advice for other seniors:

“Make sure you love your outfit choices and feel confident in them. Don’t overthink it.”

YEP. That’s the advice. Your senior session isn’t the day to wear something simply because someone else says it’s trendy or because it looked cute on Pinterest. If you put it on and immediately start tugging at it, adjusting it, or wondering whether it looks right, that’s probably not your outfit. Choose clothes that make you feel like yourself. That might be a long, flowy dress. It might be denim. It might be something colorful and fun. It might be your gymnastics leotard and medals. The goal isn’t to create somebody else’s senior pictures. It’s to create yours.

Don’t Be Afraid to Bring Options

Landry had another piece of advice that I loved:

“Bring those extra outfits that you’re not sure about! You might decide once you are there that you don’t want to wear them, but it is nice to have them in case you do!”

I agree!

I’d much rather have an extra option available than wish we’d brought it. And don’t forget the little things that keep you comfortable throughout the session.

When I asked these girls for their three must-have items, their answers included things like:

• Water
• A fan for hot summer sessions
• Lip gloss
• Makeup for touch-ups
• A hairbrush or comb
• Hairspray
• Deodorant
• A large bag to keep outfits organized
• And, maybe most importantly, a good attitude!

Summer senior pictures in Oklahoma can definitely be warm, so being prepared makes the experience that much easier.

Senior Pictures Are About More Than the Final Images

Of course I want you to LOVE your senior pictures. But something I’ve noticed over the years is that when I ask seniors about their favorite part of the experience, they often don’t mention a specific photograph. They remember how they felt.

Paisley said she loved feeling pretty and getting dressed up.

Aubree remembers running through a field at sunset.

Hayden remembers walking around and having people compliment her outfit.

Landry remembers putting on that first outfit at the first location and realizing how easy the photos were going to be.

Those are the little moments that turn senior pictures into a senior-year memory. Paisley said she chose BPP after seeing my previous senior portraits, but what stood out to her was the experience:

“She’s very attentive with each senior and makes sure they feel very comfortable.”

And Landry came to me because girls she already knew had been through the BPP experience.

“Several of my friends have either been on her senior team or used her for senior pictures and they all said she was so kind and made everything so fun and easy!”

That means so much to me because beautiful images are important, but so us the way you feel while we’re creating them.

What Will You Actually Do With Your Senior Pictures?

Here’s the fun part: your senior pictures don’t just sit in a gallery somewhere. These girls already have plans for theirs! Paisley will use hers for Senior Sunday posts and says her parents will keep them. Aubree plans to use hers for Senior Sunday countdowns leading up to graduation. Hayden will use hers for graduation invitations and Senior Sunday. And Landry has already changed her profile picture! She also plans to use her senior photos for Senior Sunday posts, scrapbooking her senior year, graduation announcements, and sharing with family.

That’s why I love creating so much variety during a senior session. You’ll use these pictures ALL YEAR LONG. And eventually, they’ll become something even more important: a record of exactly who you were at the beginning of this huge transition into whatever comes next.

What’s Next for These Class of 2027 Seniors?

That’s one of the most exciting things about photographing seniors at the beginning of the year. There’s so much ahead of them.

Paisley is looking forward to spending her final year making memories with her friends and plans to study nursing at a community college close to home.

Aubree is excited for all the senior traditions, from painting her parking spot to senior brunch, and plans to attend OU after graduation.

Hayden is looking forward to all of her “lasts” and meeting new people. After graduation, she plans to attend college and become a pilot.

Landry is ready to make memories with her friends and plans to go to school to become a nail tech.

Four completely different girls. Four different stories. Four different plans. And four senior sessions that got to reflect exactly who they are right now. That’s what makes this job so much fun.

Summer Senior Pictures Are Wrapping Up…Now It’s Fall’s Turn!

Summer Class of 2027 sessions have been SO much fun, but we’re officially heading into one of my favorite times of year for senior pictures in Oklahoma.

FALL. I am so ready for the cooler weather! Anyone else!?!?

If you haven’t booked your Class of 2027 senior pictures yet, you haven’t missed your chance. In fact, fall is an incredible time for senior portraits. The temperatures start cooling down (finally!). We get beautiful golden light, changing leaves, richer colors, and completely different outfit options. Think dresses, denim, boots, layers, sweaters, and all those fall looks you’ve been saving.

And your entire session doesn’t have to scream “FALL,” either. We can combine colorful leaves and fields with downtown OKC, the Myriad Gardens, urban locations, and other Oklahoma City senior picture locations to create plenty of variety in your final gallery.

But, Don’t wait until fall to book your fall senior pictures. The best fall dates are reserved before the season arrives. You don’t need to have everything figured out before you contact me. You don’t need your outfits picked, locations picked, or how to pose. We’ll figure all of that out together.
