Abby is one of my team members for Class of 2022 and we had already done her full senior session. Abby and her parents both wanted some senior pictures with her horse as well. We had to schedule a time that worked for the horse trainers and would be good for lighting, so we had to wait a couple weeks to get these in. The wait was definitely worth it! We met up on a beautiful Saturday morning and created some awesome senior pictures with her horse.
Abby started riding horses by chance when she was just a little girl. Her grandma had gotten her some riding lessons off of Groupon for her birthday when she turned 5 years old. She used up all those lessons and couldn’t stop talking about riding horses for months, so her parents decided to let her take some more lessons. One thing led to another and now she owns her very own horse! Her horses name is Cam, but his show name is Mastercraft SS. Did you know that horses have different names for competition?!? I know I sure didn’t.
Abby has been competing/showing at competitons for 6 years now and is a NATIONAL CHAMPION! She is currently competing at this year’s National Competition and I can’t wait to see how she finishes up with The Mastercraft SS! She shows Morgan horses. She is a hunt seat rider and show hunt seat equitation and hunt seat pleasure. (To be completely honest, I have no idea what all that means, but I have seen some of her posts from competitions and she and Cam work beautifully together!)
One thing the trainer used to help keep Cam interested was a peppermint! I had no idea how much horses love peppermint. Horses have a very short attention span, so we had to work fast before he got too antsy. Thankfully he loves his Abby and was more than happy to pose for some pictures with her. I think his favorites were when she was giving him some sweet kisses. Abby’s mom was telling me during this shoot that when Abby arrives for practice, if Cam hears her he will start making noises for her to come see him. It is such a sweet bond that these 2 have!
